ILP #2

For my second ILP, I decided to create an InfoGraphic. I created this from the website found  here . The website was very complicated to use, but the InfoGraphic is a great way for visual learners to receive information. https://create.piktochart.com/output/29720792-new-piktochart

Our seventh assignment utilized two wonderful skills that would benefit almost any teacher. One of those tools was Microsoft Excel which we used to record the data that we collected. As we have discussed in class, Excel can be used to record data for the classroom such as grades or maybe a time schedule. Excel has a wonderful system that allows averages, minimums, maximums, and sums to be easily calculated, as well as other numerical values. Charts and graphs can easily be created from the data that is entered. All of these tools would be beneficial for any teacher to assist with grading and keeping up with students' grades. Surveys would also be an asset for teachers to assess the feelings of their students and the parents. Excel can be used at any stage during education to record grades. Surveys can be used at any time as well, but I think surveys would be very useful for a high school student studying statistics because of the survey information that is discussed in statistics...

The "Flipped Classroom" is basically all that the name suggests. The order in which things are done in the classroom is reversed, meaning that the outside of class work that is required is done before attending the class as well as the instruction. In class, activities and interaction is performed with classmates. Vanderbilt University's website suggests that flipping the usual processes of the classroom allows for lower cognitive processing to occur outside of the classroom and this allows for the higher level cognitive processing to occur in the classroom. The website provides a lot of useful information on the "Flipped Classroom".  The podcast detailed the terms Open Education, Open Source, and Open Content. First, Open Education refers to making educational material accessible to a vast amount of people. When I think of this, I think of the articles that are published on the FSU Libraries website for all FSU students to access. Next, Open Source is free...

Adaptive technologies are technologies that were created to make using technology easier for those who have challenges or disabilities. When I think of adaptive technologies, I think of when I was in middle school and I had a computer class with someone who had a disability. I'm pretty sure she had to have her screen adjusted so that she could see it better due to bad eyesight. Adaptive technologies can also be used for people with colorblindness too.  It can be challenging to use adaptive technologies in the classroom because only one child may need it in the classroom and the rest of the classroom won't need it. This can cause delays in the classroom. Also, if a student really relies on their adaptive technology and something happens to it, it can hinder their learning and put them behind. Not only is that a challenge, but certain technologies can be very expensive and lower SES school districts might not be able to afford it. ISTE has a blog that is related to Adaptive a...

One application that teachers can use for their Personal Learning Network is The Teaching Channel. Teachers can use this tool to view videos of other teachers teaching in a classroom, communicate with other teachers, and also share lesson plans with other teachers. These tools are available for teachers of the same areas to use, but The Teaching Channel also allows teachers from all levels communicate through a Q&A Forum. The site is free for teachers to use. The Teaching Channel Another application that I think would be beneficial for teachers to use for their PLN is LinkedIn. It's extremely professional and I think that it would be good for teachers to communicate. Not only are teachers able to view other teacher's profiles, but they are able to have their profiles viewed by possible future employers, etc. It is also free for teachers to use. LinkedIn

So far, I have learned that Twitter is a great tool for some, but not for everyone. Personally, I am not a fan because I don't use social media to post something every single day. I use social media more to let people know how I'm doing maybe once a month or every few months. I have struggled to find stuff to post two times a week because it's boring to just post quotes, we have to do more than only retweet, and I don't have anything remotely interesting to say to my follows. On the other hand, I have learned that it would be a great tool for a classroom. Students can keep in touch with their teacher while they aren't in school and teachers could use it to spread information to their students quickly and efficiently.  I loved creating my web page, but much like the newsletter assignment, it was very time consuming. I am familiar with building websites, but a lot of information had to be added to this one and I am not familiar with adding information to web pages....

I decided to create a Prezi because I felt it was the best way to present the information that I wanted to share. I have been couponing for the last year and have been exposed to people who have been documenting their debt free journey. It's inspired me to stay on top of my credit cards payments and all of the other payments that I have to keep track of. I hope to inspire others my age to continue these good habits in order to have healthy lifestyles in the future. Here is my presentation: EME Prezi
