Blog Post #10

  1. Our seventh assignment utilized two wonderful skills that would benefit almost any teacher. One of those tools was Microsoft Excel which we used to record the data that we collected. As we have discussed in class, Excel can be used to record data for the classroom such as grades or maybe a time schedule. Excel has a wonderful system that allows averages, minimums, maximums, and sums to be easily calculated, as well as other numerical values. Charts and graphs can easily be created from the data that is entered. All of these tools would be beneficial for any teacher to assist with grading and keeping up with students' grades. Surveys would also be an asset for teachers to assess the feelings of their students and the parents. Excel can be used at any stage during education to record grades. Surveys can be used at any time as well, but I think surveys would be very useful for a high school student studying statistics because of the survey information that is discussed in statistics.
  2. Throughout the semester, I thought it was really interesting to read my classmates posts. We had a lot of the same ideas about software or social media that can be used in the classroom. We also had similar ideas about emerging technology that we thought would be seen in the classroom in the future. I remember reading someone's blog and they said that they thought Virtual Reality would be useful and used in the classroom in the future. Someone else said that they thought a useful social media outlet in the classroom would be Edmodo, which I thought about to use for my blog, but I couldn't remember the name of it until I saw it mentioned in their blog.
  3. I would love to learn to create websites next. While I did learn how to code websites in middle school, it's been more than four years since I've been able to practice it. I think this would be a really good skill to have because if I open my own company one day, I'll be able to create my own website. Also, I can create websites for other people to have an easy income. My dad has been working on teaching himself how to create websites and he has taught himself using videos on Youtube. I think I can learn just about anything on Youtube, but I can also take classes at FSU to teach me how to do this.
