I decided to create a Prezi because I felt it was the best way to present the information that I wanted to share. I have been couponing for the last year and have been exposed to people who have been documenting their debt free journey. It's inspired me to stay on top of my credit cards payments and all of the other payments that I have to keep track of. I hope to inspire others my age to continue these good habits in order to have healthy lifestyles in the future. Here is my presentation: EME Prezi

One of the teacher's websites that I visited contained information like Bell work, student shout outs, and a blog posted weekly. The bell work is divided into the months that it was gone over. In the same class notes tab, there are links that take you to the PowerPoints for specific topics covered in the class. Student shout outs include the students for each class period that created the best short stories. Each week, a blog is posted that summarizing the topics discussed in class that week. The blog is labeled the "week-end" blog that the teacher consistently posts to once a week including a detailed description and pictures. Another teacher's website features a calendar with the topics that will be discussed in class each day as well as the dates of quizzes and tests. This website also features link to the teacher's email, outside resources for additional support, and a link to a spreadsheet with all of the vocab terms. The school is Pace High School, my alma ...

I think a lot of the Web 2.0 technologies that allow for some control over the environment are positive for students. For example, a platform like Twitter can be used for educational purposes in the classroom. Twitter allows other users to see who one user may be following so it would allow for teachers to see which accounts their students are actively following. Unfortunately, teachers would not be able to control who students are not actively following but they would still be able to slightly control the environment. This platform would enable for students to easily interact with each other and for teachers to easily communicate with their students as well. A Web 2.0 technology that would not be beneficial for the classroom would be something like Wikipedia or WikiHow. These platforms allow for incorrect information to be dispersed, under the disguise of being correct.  The Web 2.0 tool Scribd seems like a wonderful tool to use in the classroom. Throughout high school, I had t...

When I first started using Twitter for this class, I was extremely confused because the setup is not quite the same as Instagram. In order to see your own page, you have to click through a few things. I didn't know that in order to add a comment to something you retweet, you have to click "Quote Tweet" so that you can add the class hashtag. I haven't really been interacting with anyone besides the organizations I follow. Sometimes, I'll retweet what they have posted. Posts on Twitter are beneficial because instead of having to read a long article to find the main point of the article, the main point can be posted in 240 characters or less. I think Twitter can be incredibly helpful in future classrooms. When I was in grade school, teachers would post updates on their class websites, but no one bothered checking those websites. If teachers tweeted out a brief reminder of homework or a test, then students would see it when they're already scrolling through Twit...

Assignment 3: Web Evaluation

High School Math Resources: Wolfram MathWorld Currency: The bottom left hand corner of the page says "Last updated: Fri Jan 26 2018". All of the links work. Relevance: If you click on Geometry, it will take you to a page with many more options that relate to geometry. The site provides definitions and formulas for geometric concepts. The left side of the website provides a menu with links to various mathematical topics. Geometry relates most to the kind of math that I did in high school. There is a link in the bottom right hand corner that navigates you to the Wolfram Research, Inc. website. Authority: Each link connected to the geometry sub-pages provides a specific author from MathWorld. The owner of the website includes a link to the Wolfram Research, Inc. website in the bottom right hand corner. Wolfram MathWorld does not include contact information on their website, but the Wolfram Research, Inc. website has a "Contact Us" section with an address, phone ...

I feel comfortable with close to all of the ELA Technology Standards that we discussed in class. There are some points for the different grades level that I think I could improve my skill in. For instance, under RL. 7 "Multimedia" Literature, I don't feel entirely comfortable with the sixth and seventh grade level requirements. If I saw an example of how these standards are implemented, I would probably understand better how I would incorporate them in my own classroom. I also feel like I could improve my understand of the entire W/WHST.8 “Use Multiple Sources” standard. Personally, I have never understood the difference between paraphrasing information or using your own words, even though it's been explained to me plenty of times. RI.7 “Multimedia:” Informational Text seems to be the easiest and most self-explanatory standard, therefore I think I would do well in implementing it into my classroom. I LOVED doing the newsletter assignment! It reminded me of when I w...
