- I feel comfortable with close to all of the ELA Technology Standards that we discussed in class. There are some points for the different grades level that I think I could improve my skill in. For instance, under RL. 7 "Multimedia" Literature, I don't feel entirely comfortable with the sixth and seventh grade level requirements. If I saw an example of how these standards are implemented, I would probably understand better how I would incorporate them in my own classroom. I also feel like I could improve my understand of the entire W/WHST.8 “Use Multiple Sources” standard. Personally, I have never understood the difference between paraphrasing information or using your own words, even though it's been explained to me plenty of times. RI.7 “Multimedia:” Informational Text seems to be the easiest and most self-explanatory standard, therefore I think I would do well in implementing it into my classroom.
- I LOVED doing the newsletter assignment! It reminded me of when I was younger and I would play teacher with my siblings. My favorite part about playing teacher was the creativity that was required to present information in an exciting way to my "students". I feel like I used a lot of creativity in my newsletter in the form of coordinating colors and making a name for my classroom. I know that it wouldn't be that fun after making a newsletter a bunch of times a year and having to balance other teacher duties on top of that. It was pretty time consuming so I don't think I favored that aspect of it. Although, it is a great medium to use to present information to your students' parents without having to personally email every one of them. Next time, I can put my perfectionist tendencies to the side in order to complete the newsletter in a more timely fashion.
