Assignment 3: Web Evaluation

High School Math Resources:

Wolfram MathWorld

• Currency: The bottom left hand corner of the page says "Last updated: Fri Jan 26 2018". All of the links work.
• Relevance: If you click on Geometry, it will take you to a page with many more options that relate to geometry. The site provides definitions and formulas for geometric concepts. The left side of the website provides a menu with links to various mathematical topics. Geometry relates most to the kind of math that I did in high school. There is a link in the bottom right hand corner that navigates you to the Wolfram Research, Inc. website.
• Authority: Each link connected to the geometry sub-pages provides a specific author from MathWorld. The owner of the website includes a link to the Wolfram Research, Inc. website in the bottom right hand corner. Wolfram MathWorld does not include contact information on their website, but the Wolfram Research, Inc. website has a "Contact Us" section with an address, phone numbers, and fax information.
• Accuracy: The creator of MathWorld has a Ph.D. from Caltech. Geometric facts align with online information. 
• Purpose: The information is factual and does not contain bias. MathWorld is an education website.

Khan Academy

• Currency: The Copyright in the bottom left hand corner presents the year as 2018. All of the links are active.
• Relevance: The website is organized in a very logical matter. On the home page, the links are separated by section. For instance, math is separated from sciences and math is even split into grade level or by subject. At the bottom of the page, there is an "About" link that takes you to the Khan Academy Home Page. The website includes multiple math resources including different grade levels and all of the math subjects that would be used in high school. I don't see any grammatical errors. 
• Authority: The owner of the website is Khan Academy, a renowned academic resource that works in collaboration with organizations such as NASA, according to their "About" page. There is plenty of ways to contact the company through their help center. 
• Accuracy: Facts are documented and match print sources.
• Purpose: Khan Academy is a well known academic resource. No exaggeration is present in the language used. The information is factual and appears to be a primary source.
